TSTG Tifffany Jones, U.S. Air Force

I was born and raised in Miami, FL in a household of 9 (7 kids -4 girls 3 boys). We loved getting together and doing family activities such as going to the beach and sport events. We were always taught to be close; to love and take care of one another. I’ve been in the Air Force for a little over 10 years and now have a family of my own husband and 2 sons ages 8 and 4. We love to play tennis and try new activities like recently archery.

Growing up in such a big family, we didn’t always have funds to do a lot. My parents tried their hardest and did their best with what they could. My main reason for joining the military was to be able to make my mom proud and at the same time being able help out financially. My mom was my world and I told her the day that I left that I was doing this to make her proud and so that I could take care of her. Before she passed away in 2011, she told me that I had made her so proud. I now strive to accomplish other things that I told her I would.

I’ve overcome most challenges through prayer and communication. I’ve learned that yes the storm may seem bad when you’re in it but after it passes the sun will come out again. Difficulties don’t last forever! Military has taught me many skills.

Don’t be mediocre, strive to always be great! I say that because in recent years, I’ve noticed that youth have no problem being lazy and quitting at the first sight of difficulty.

I serve for my sons. To give them a great woman role model for them to know what to look for in a woman later in life. To make them proud. I want my legacy to be simply class, love, strength and greatness!

I want to be remembered for my smile, the way I’ve treated and cared for others and the impacts I’ve had in our interactions. I want to be remembered as the woman who gave it her all even when faced with adversity. The woman who always went above and beyond for those I serve and more importantly the ones I care about.
